Spring, 2000
Issued: April 1, 2000
Due: April 5, 2000

Unless otherwise indicated, all problems are from the course text.

  1. 5.10
  2. 5.50 (a) - (d)
  3. 5.55 Be sure to use different order Pad/'e approximations to ensure the accuracy of your determination of K for stability.
  4. 5.47 (a) - (d)
  5. The following are short answer or True/False questions
    1. Give the condition from which the root loci are constructed.
    2. Determine the points on the root locui at which K=0 with reference to the poles and zeros of G(s).
    3. True or False: The asymptotes of the root loci refer to the angles of the root loci when K approaches infinity.
    4. True or False: There is only one intersection of the asymptotes of the root locus.
    5. True or False: Adding a negative pole to G(s) has the general effect of pushing the root locus to the right; whereas, adding a negative zero pushes the locus to the left.
  6. 6.3 (a), (d) and (g).
