Rules for Group Cooperation
The instructor will determine the composition of the project
groups at the beginning of the semester. Groups can consist of
only three or four students. The groups will remain
unchanged througout the semester for all projects with the
following exceptions:
- A group member may quit a group by providing each other member 10
days written notice, explaining in detail the reasons he or
she wants to leave the group. The quitting student must also
have arranged for another group of three to allow him or her to join.
- A group member may be "fired" by unanimous consent of the
rest of the group. The rest of the group must provide the recalcitrant
group member 10 days written notice explaining in detail why
the rest of the group wants him or her gone. The "fired"
student then must find another group that is willing to allow
him or her to join.
- In the event that students drop the course leaving less than
three members in a group, the instructor may reassign the two
students to other groups.
In each case where a student quits or is fired, the instructor
must be provided the same written notice at the same time as the students.
Also, the instructor will determine, based upon the explaination
in the written notice, whether quitting a group or firing a group
member is justified. If, in his opinion, it is not justified,
then the member cannot quit or be fired.
