Reading: course text, Chapter 6 through section 6.6.

You may do the eigenvalue problem using matlab or a calculator. However, you should be able to do them all by hand, and would be expected to do so on an exam.

Nope, just find the general solution.

If we use Matlab to find the eigenvalues/vectors do we need to turn in a print off of it?

No, but it will be hard to give much partial credit when grading it if there isn't any supporting work.
