The system for grading exam 1 was as follows:
- 2 points each for correct eigenvalues and eigenvectors
- 13 points for assembling everything correctly in a general solution
- 5 points for the correct eigenvalues
- 10 points for correct computations
- 10 points for correctly checking the answer
- only gave general solution, but didn't do/forgot to compute the particular solution for the given initial conditions: -5
- only included up to t term (didn't include t^2): -9
- wrong form of solution (no powers of t or higher powers of t, such as t^3): -20
- wrong eigenvalues with none repeated: -15
- wrong engeinvalues with only 2 repeated: -12
- choosing a linearly dependent set of generalized eigenvalues: -12
- right form of f(t): 3
- correctly Laplace transforming of everything: 7
- correct X(s): 10
- correct inverse Laplace transform: 5
- calculation errors: -1 or -2 depending on severity
- calculation errors propagating to X(s): -5
