- Problem 1:
- 10 points for writing f(t) as a combination of step functions.
- 10 points for correctly computing the Laplace transform (including using the time shift theorem correctly)
- 10 points for solving for X(s) (including the partial fractions)
- 10 points for correct x(t) (including using the time shift theorem correctly)
- Problem 2:
- 10 points for obtaining the right differential equations using KVL and F=ma
- 10 points to compute the Laplace transform
- 10 points to find X(s)/V(s)
- 10 points to use Final Value Theorem for part (b) correctly
- Problem 3
- 15 points for recognizing that a vibration absorber takes one resonance and splits it into two
- 3 points for making referring to the figure and knowing that w/w_a=1 is the design point
- -2 for not referring to the Figure or assuming the design point is for very large w/w_a.
