It seems like you're asking about the significance of the 3 Lorenz equations...

However, everyone else I've asked seems to think you're asking about the significance of doing these approximations in Matlab vs. C.

Can you please confirm...

The extra credit problem is asking for the significance of the equations themselves, not anything about matlab versus any other solution method.
The word "equations" refers to the equations, not a computer program.
