Reading: Chapter 11, sections 1 and 2.

Exercises: 11.1 (numbers 2 and 5 only) and 11.3 (numbers 1 and 3 only).

Hi Professor,

For 11.3, it says to plot a partial sum of the solution including enough terms so that it is accurate for various times. Or alternatively, make a movie. If we decide to make a movie, how would we submit that to you? By email?

Submit the code with the homework. You can email the movie to me or alternatively post it to some site where I can view it such as google, your ND web space, FB, etc.

Professor,

For Exercise 11.3, how would you like us to do the plots? Should we put multiple t values on one plot like the example in the book or should we graph each t on a different plot similar to how you plotted them during class. Thanks!

Whatever method you feel most effectively communicates the nature if the solution is what you should do.

Professor--

For the coefficients (a's and b's), is it necessary to simplify them using trig identities if possible? Or would it be correct to leave them unsimplified, as long as they are algebraically equivalent?

If something is super-simple you should do it, but otherwise don't worry about it.
