	AME students that have completed their sophomore or junior years enrolled in an engineering program at Notre Dame are eligible for the program. ~~We envision the program growing beyond the Department of Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering~~, but ~~for~~ the ~~initial program development,~~ the projects ~~will be mainly~~ mechanical ~~design based projects~~.		AME students that have completed their sophomore or junior years enrolled in an engineering program at Notre Dame are eligible for the program. Students from other engineering programs may participate, but the overall group must be a majority AME students because the projects are mechanical in nature and the advisors in China are mechanical engineers. To date, one student from outside AME participated, and had a positive experience and was able to significantly contribute to the project.

	The project-based coursework will count as an AME Technical Elective in the Mechanical Engineering program and as a Professional Development elective in the Aerospace program. 	For the project component of the program, teams of 4-6 students with approximately equal number of Notre Dame and Chinese students, will complete projects that are provided by and actively managed by multinational companies. Travel to the company's China location(s) for an overview of their operations and project status reports is typically part of the program. Such travel will typically be overnight and to locations outside of Beijing. Weekly project reports to the academic adviser for the program as well as the industrial sponsor is required as is a final project report.
