My Selected US Patent

  • Patent 4417745: Folding Bicycle
    • Date issued: November 29, 1983
  • The idea behind this invention was to create a bicycle that could be easily folded into a compact shape, and thus carried easily onto a bus or train. The invention is a 10 speed, large-wheeled bicycle which can be compacted to 36"x36"x12" in size. The bike can be easily folded in approximately thirty seconds without the use of any tools. I found this patent interesting because I like to bike, and the mechanics behind successfully folding a bicycle are intriguing. Also, I think it will be interesting to explore other inventions involving compact bicycles to compare the differences. I found the patent while searching the "Patentstorm" website; here is the link: [1]. The patent can also be found on Google Patents: [2].
